COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts with a major in Philosophy requires the completion of 360 credit points over three years of full-time study. Students complete at least one 120-credit-point Arts major, while the remaining 240 credit points can be completed through electives, an additional Arts or non-Arts major, or up to two minors, allowing flexibility to combine Philosophy with other disciplines. The Philosophy major provides a structured study of fundamental questions concerning knowledge, ethics, reality, human existence, and society. The curriculum introduces students to major philosophical ideas, theories, and methods of reasoning while developing skills in logical analysis, argument evaluation, and critical reflection. Students explore topics such as the nature of truth and belief, human freedom, consciousness, morality, justice, religion, political philosophy, and approaches to living a meaningful life. Through engagement with historical and contemporary philosophical debates, students learn to assess different viewpoints, construct clear arguments, and address complex problems from multiple perspectives. Advanced study encourages independent thinking and the application of philosophical concepts to real-world ethical, social, and cultural issues. The program develops strong research, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills that are valuable across diverse professional contexts. Graduates are prepared for careers in education, policy development, law, government, research, communication, ethics-related fields, business, and other areas requiring critical thinking and reasoned decision-making.
