COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts with a major in Ethics and Social Justice requires the completion of 360 credit points over three years of full-time study. Students complete at least one 120-credit-point Arts major, while the remaining 240 credit points can be completed through electives, an additional Arts or non-Arts major, or up to two minors, providing flexibility to develop an interdisciplinary study pathway. The Ethics and Social Justice major explores philosophical, social, political, and legal approaches to understanding morality, fairness, inequality, and human rights. The curriculum introduces students to key ethical theories and social justice frameworks that examine questions about how people should live, what societies should value, and how rights, opportunities, and responsibilities should be distributed. Students study perspectives from philosophy, sociology, politics, gender studies, development studies, and law to analyse the causes and impacts of social inequalities, discrimination, and power structures. Through critical examination of contemporary social issues, students learn to evaluate institutions, cultural practices, and systems that shape individual and collective experiences. The major develops skills in ethical reasoning, research, critical analysis, communication, and applying theoretical concepts to real-world challenges. Students gain the ability to question existing practices and explore ways to create more inclusive and equitable societies. Graduates are prepared for careers in social policy, advocacy, human rights, government, community services, education, research, and organizations focused on social change and justice.
