COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts with an Asian Studies major requires the completion of 360 credit points over three years of full-time study. Students must complete at least one 120-credit-point Arts major, while the remaining 240 credit points can be fulfilled through electives, an additional Arts or non-Arts major, or up to two minors, providing flexibility to personalize their studies. The Asian Studies major is structured progressively across three levels, beginning with foundational subjects that introduce the histories, cultures, societies, and contemporary issues of Asia. Intermediate-level subjects deepen students' understanding of regional diversity through interdisciplinary perspectives, including sociology, anthropology, politics, history, linguistics, and literary studies. In the final year, advanced and capstone subjects focus on critical analysis, independent research, and the application of theoretical knowledge to complex cultural, political, and social issues affecting Asia. Students may also study an Asian language alongside the major to strengthen their linguistic and intercultural communication skills. The curriculum encourages participation in overseas exchange programs with partner universities across Asia, enabling students to gain practical international experience and cultural immersion. Through a combination of core major subjects, electives, and interdisciplinary learning, graduates develop strong analytical, research, communication, and cross-cultural competencies for careers in government, diplomacy, education, international business, media, tourism, research, and community organizations.
