COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts with an Anthropology major requires the completion of 360 credit points over three years of full-time study. Students must complete at least one 120-credit-point Arts major, while the remaining 240 credit points can be fulfilled through electives, an additional Arts or non-Arts major, or up to two minors, allowing flexibility to tailor the degree to individual interests. The Anthropology major introduces students to the diversity of human cultures, societies, and social relationships through a combination of theoretical and applied learning. The curriculum covers key themes such as Aboriginal Australia, digital and online anthropology, kinship, childhood and youth, human-animal interactions, popular culture, food and drink, health, development, environmental issues, sorcery and witchcraft, and cultural diversity across Australia, Asia, and the Pacific. Students also develop strong research and analytical skills by studying anthropological methods, ethics, and qualitative fieldwork practices. Throughout the program, they gain experience in understanding cultural differences, social inequalities, and community engagement while exploring practical approaches to addressing contemporary global and local challenges. The curriculum is complemented by electives and interdisciplinary study options that broaden students' knowledge and prepare them for careers in anthropology, public policy, community development, cultural heritage management, education, research, museums, market research, and non-government organizations.
