COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Biosciences course structure consists of 360 credit points and is designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge of animal science, veterinary biosciences and related biological disciplines. In Level one, students build a strong foundation through core subjects covering molecules, genes and cells, animal and agricultural sciences, infections, pandemics and epidemics, chemistry applications, animal and plant life, and data analysis. Students also complete chemistry studies and elective subjects that introduce broader scientific concepts such as ecology and biodiversity. Level two develops advanced understanding of animal biology through subjects including biochemistry and molecular biology, metabolic biochemistry and cell biology, animal nutrition, animal physiology and work-integrated learning. Students can further customise their studies through electives in areas such as microbiology, genetics, ecology, animal behaviour, reproduction and industry placement opportunities. The course emphasises practical learning, allowing students to apply scientific knowledge through industry experiences and real-world case studies. Students develop skills in animal health, nutrition, physiology, disease understanding and scientific research methods. The program prepares graduates for careers in animal industries, veterinary support roles, research, wildlife management, agriculture and biotechnology sectors. It also provides a strong foundation for further study in veterinary medicine and other animal health professions.
