COURSE CURRICULUM

The Agribusiness major consists of 120 credit points within the 360-credit-point Bachelor of Agriculture degree and is designed to develop students’ understanding of agricultural production, business management and sustainable food systems. The course structure combines core agricultural knowledge with specialised agribusiness studies, allowing students to explore the commercial, economic and technological aspects of the agriculture industry. In Level one, students build foundational knowledge through subjects covering agriculture and food security, molecules, genes and cells, data analysis, agribusiness management and essential chemistry concepts. Level two expands students’ understanding through studies in agricultural biochemistry, entrepreneurship, innovation and work-integrated learning, providing opportunities to connect academic knowledge with industry practice. Students also complete major subjects focused on agribusiness strategies, supply chains, finance, risk management and agricultural markets. In Level three, students undertake advanced agribusiness subjects that develop skills in strategic decision-making, sustainable business practices, agricultural economics and innovation. Elective opportunities allow students to broaden their expertise through additional majors, minors or related disciplines. The major prepares graduates to understand the challenges facing modern agriculture and develop effective solutions for food production, resource management and business growth. Graduates are equipped for careers in agribusiness management, agricultural consulting, supply chain operations, rural enterprise, policy development and sustainable agricultural innovation.
