COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of International Tourism and Hospitality Management – Master of Business Administration curriculum is designed to provide students with advanced knowledge in tourism, hospitality operations, business strategy, leadership, and sustainable management. The core subjects develop essential capabilities in managing strategic resources and operations, innovation and entrepreneurship, organisational change, tourism systems analysis, tourism and hospitality operations management, global destinations and competitiveness, tourist management strategies, hospitality and gastronomy, and marketing principles. These subjects equip students with the skills needed to lead, innovate, and make strategic decisions within the global tourism and hospitality industry. Students then complete additional subjects based on their campus location, with options available at Cairns and Brisbane. The Cairns pathway includes Sustainable Enterprise, Corporate Responsibility and Governance, Professional Placement/Internship, Independent Studies, Sustainable Tourism Development, and subjects focusing on international political economy or changing business environments, along with elective study options. The Brisbane pathway includes Sustainable Enterprise, Corporate Responsibility and Governance, Tourism and the Environment, business environment studies, an Applied Research Project or Professional Project/Internship, and options covering economic decision-making or sustainable economics. This flexible structure combines theoretical learning, practical experience, research, and industry engagement, preparing graduates for leadership roles in tourism, hospitality, and business sectors while promoting sustainable and innovative approaches to industry challenges.
