The Master of Global Development at James Cook University provides an opportunity to consolidate and extend your expertise in global development while preparing you to become an ethical global citizen and change-maker. Located in the tropics, JCU offers a unique perspective on pressing development issues, enabling students to engage with challenges that are both local and globally relevant.The program takes a multi-faceted approach to learning. Students undertake an individual research project, gaining practical experience in investigating development challenges and designing evidence-based solutions. Opportunities for domestic or international internships allow students to expand their professional networks and apply their skills in real-world settings. Leadership development is embedded throughout the program, with students partnering with leading global organisations to enhance their capacity to influence sustainable change.The degree is designed to be flexible, allowing students with prior study in related disciplines to complete the program faster. For example, those with a Bachelor or Graduate Certificate in a relevant field can finish six months sooner, while students with a Bachelor (Honours) or Graduate Diploma may complete the degree one year earlier.Graduates of the Master of Global Development emerge with strong intercultural competencies, ethical decision-making skills, and self-reflexivity, enabling them to work effectively in diverse cultural contexts, particularly in developing countries.
