COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Nursing Science (Pre-Registration) curriculum is structured across two levels, providing students with a strong foundation in nursing knowledge, clinical practice, and professional development. In Level 1, students study core subjects that introduce human physiology, communication, professional nursing roles, and essential clinical skills. During the first teaching period, subjects include Physiological Systems and Processes 1, Communication for Nursing and Midwifery, Introduction to the Professions, and Nursing Practice 1. The second teaching period builds on this knowledge through Physiological Systems and Processes 2, Culturally Safe Healthcare for Australia’s First Peoples, Nursing Practice 2, and Law and Ethics for Nursing and Midwifery, emphasizing culturally responsive care and ethical decision-making. Level 2 focuses on advancing professional competencies and clinical expertise. Students undertake The Professional Role, Mental Health for Nursing and Midwifery, and Nursing Practice 3 during the first teaching period, strengthening leadership, mental health knowledge, and practical nursing skills. In the second teaching period, the curriculum covers Health Equity and Policy, Digital Health Capabilities for Nursing and Midwifery, and Nursing Practice 4, preparing students to address healthcare inequalities, use digital technologies in clinical settings, and provide safe, evidence-based patient care through extensive practical learning and supervised clinical experience.
