COURSE CURRICULUM

The Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis includes a comprehensive set of units designed to develop advanced diagnostic skills in automotive systems. Students will learn to identify and resolve complex faults in integrated systems such as braking, steering, suspension, petrol and diesel engines, engine management, stability control, and automatic transmission. The course covers units like AURTTA021, which teaches diagnosis of complex faults across multiple systems, and AURETR037, focusing on faults in safety systems. Students will also gain specific expertise through units like AURLTB104 and AURLTD109, addressing braking and steering/suspension faults respectively. Engine-related diagnosis is covered in AURLTE104 for petrol engines, AURLTE105 for diesel engines, and AURTTR101 for engine management systems. Driveline and transmission systems are tackled in AURLTX104, with a strong emphasis on diagnosing faults that may be intermittent or span multiple interconnected systems. In AURTTA125, students learn to manage issues in stability control systems across different vehicle types. The unit AURETD101 focuses on electronically controlled steering systems, including high and low-speed communication networks such as CAN-bus and LIN-bus. Across all units, students practice identifying faults, selecting appropriate diagnostic tools and strategies, applying procedures, interpreting results, and recommending or performing necessary repairs. This structured training equips graduates with the practical and analytical skills needed to work with modern automotive technologies and prepares them for advanced roles in diagnostics within the automotive service and repair industry.
