COURSE CURRICULUM

For Trimester 1, 2027, the Master of Cyber Security degree requires students to complete 80 credit points, consisting of 60 credit points from prescribed core courses and 20 credit points from core course options. The core course options allow students to tailor their learning to suit their career goals or interests. Students can choose to complete one 20-credit point course or two 10-credit point courses. Available 20-credit point options include Work Integrated Learning – Single Project (7821ICT) and Work Integrated Learning – Placement (7822ICT), both offered in Trimesters 1 and 2. These provide students with practical, hands-on experience in real industry settings or through a structured project, applying cyber security skills in professional environments. Alternatively, students may opt for two 10-credit point courses such as Research for IT Professionals (7113ICT), which develops research and analytical skills specific to the information technology sector, and Advanced Topics in IT (7013ICT), which explores emerging and complex areas in the field. Another option previously offered is Responsible and Secure Artificial Intelligence (7017ICTOR), a course that focuses on ethical and security issues related to AI technologies, although it was last offered in 2024 and may no longer be available. This flexible course structure allows students to gain both theoretical understanding and practical experience, preparing them for various roles in the cyber security industry. Whether through industry placement, research, or advanced coursework, students are equipped to handle complex challenges and contribute to the development of secure digital environments across business, government, and society.
