The Master of Clinical Rehabilitation at Flinders University is designed to provide students with advanced knowledge and skills in clinical rehabilitation, tailored to their specific field of practice. The program combines theoretical learning with practical experience, allowing students to understand the principles and applications of rehabilitation in clinical settings while developing expertise relevant to their professional goals. Graduates gain the ability to assess, plan, and implement rehabilitation strategies for individuals with diverse conditions, contributing to improved patient outcomes and quality of care.The program offers training in research methods, enabling students to develop skills in either research or advanced clinical practice. This includes designing and undertaking projects that address practical or theoretical questions in clinical rehabilitation, fostering evidence-based practice and critical thinking. By engaging in a focused research or applied project, students gain expertise that supports professional development and contributes to the broader field of rehabilitation.Practical experience is a core component of the program. Onshore Master’s students complete a nine-unit placement in an Australian rehabilitation hospital (REHB8030 Clinical Rehabilitation Practice). This placement provides hands-on experience in real-world clinical environments, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge, develop professional competencies, and engage directly with patients under the supervision of experienced practitioners.As per Australian Government regulations, all students participating in placements involving contact with children, young people, or vulnerable adults must undergo a criminal history check prior to commencing their placement. This ensures the safety and well-being of all patients and aligns with professional and legal requirements for clinical practice.Graduates of the Master of Clinical Rehabilitation emerge as skilled, evidence-informed practitioners capable of contributing effectively to rehabilitation teams. They are equipped with the knowledge, practical experience, and research expertise needed to enhance patient care, advance clinical practice, and make meaningful contributions to the field of rehabilitation across diverse health care settings.
