COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) (Honours) at Flinders University provides a comprehensive pathway for students to develop expertise in designing, implementing, and managing advanced electrical and electronic systems. In the first year, students build foundational skills in engineering design, programming, physics, and mathematics, alongside option topics that allow for initial exploration of specific interests. This foundation equips students with the analytical, computational, and problem-solving abilities required for more advanced studies.In the second year, the focus shifts to core areas of electrical and electronic engineering, including data engineering, software systems, network fundamentals, and cloud computing. Option topics provide flexibility to tailor the curriculum to personal interests or emerging technologies. These studies integrate practical and theoretical knowledge, preparing students to address real-world engineering challenges and develop innovative solutions.The third year emphasizes advanced technical skills in control systems, telecommunications and power, and electronics. Students continue to select option topics, enabling them to deepen their expertise in specialized areas or explore interdisciplinary applications. This year enhances students’ capacity to design, analyze, and optimize complex electrical and electronic systems.In the fourth and final year, students focus on renewable energy systems and undertake an honours thesis combined with work-integrated learning. This capstone experience allows students to apply their cumulative knowledge in research or industry-based projects, fostering professional skills and practical problem-solving capabilities. Additional option topics allow for further specialization and exploration. By the end of the program, graduates are well-prepared for careers in sectors such as electronics design, telecommunications, renewable energy, robotics, and advanced manufacturing, equipped with the technical expertise, creativity, and professional experience needed to drive innovation and make a tangible impact in the field of electrical and electronic engineering.
