COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Business Analytics at Flinders University is structured to progressively build students’ expertise in data analytics, artificial intelligence, and business strategy over three years. In the first year, students are introduced to foundational topics such as interpreting and visualising business data, coding for business, marketing principles in the digital era, fundamentals of artificial intelligence, computing programming, finance and accounting for leaders, and innovation and creative thinking, along with one elective option. These courses provide a strong base in both technical and business knowledge, preparing students to apply analytical thinking in real-world contexts. The second year focuses on developing advanced analytical skills and industry relevance. Core topics include business forecasting, building resilience and professional skills, HR information systems and analytics, database modelling and information management, uncovering global market insights, and supply chain analytics, alongside the study of fintech applications and one elective option. These courses equip students with practical tools to interpret complex data, identify trends, and support strategic decision-making across diverse business areas. In the third year, the curriculum advances into specialised areas of analytics, data management, and digital strategy. Students study data warehousing and decision making, digital marketing and analysis, cybersecurity, AI, cybersecurity and the future of work, and the use of strategy for business transformation. This year also includes an industry placement, providing hands-on experience and direct engagement with professional environments, and two elective options or the opportunity to complete a minor. Across the program, students gain a balance of technical proficiency, strategic insight, and practical experience, ensuring they are well-prepared for careers in business analytics, data consulting, digital marketing, finance, and other data-driven roles. The combination of theoretical knowledge, practical application, and industry exposure ensures that graduates have the skills and confidence to turn data insights into actionable business solutions and make meaningful contributions to organisational success.
