COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Software Engineering course spans two years of full-time study, combining foundational knowledge with advanced skills and practical experience. In the first semester of Year 1, students study Foundations of Programming, gaining essential coding skills, while The Data-Driven Professional introduces data handling and analysis concepts. Introduction to Cyber Security Fundamentals and Practices builds awareness of security principles, and Mathematics for Data Science covers the mathematical tools needed in computing. Semester 2 focuses on Professional Research and Communication, IT Service Management and Professional Culture, and Leadership in IT Project Management, preparing students for real-world workplace environments. Students also select an elective to tailor their learning.In Year 2, Semester 1 emphasizes core software engineering skills with Software Engineering Methodologies and a Masters Project, where students apply their learning to a substantial research or development task. A Cooperative Placement provides valuable industry experience, allowing students to work on IT projects in a professional setting. Semester 2 delves deeper into programming concepts with Comparative Programming Languages and Software Engineering: Analysis and Design, alongside Software Testing to ensure quality in development. The final Masters Project continues from Semester 1, culminating in a comprehensive demonstration of students’ expertise and readiness for professional software engineering roles. This combination of coursework, research, and practical placement ensures graduates are well-equipped for careers in diverse industries requiring high-quality software development.
