COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Professional Accounting is structured over two years, combining foundational knowledge, advanced accounting concepts, and practical industry experience. In Year 1, Semester 1, students study core subjects including Accounting Concepts and Practices, Information Systems Design and Development for Accountants, Business, Society and the Planet, and Commercial Law, which build essential understanding of accounting principles, digital systems, sustainability, and legal frameworks. Semester 2 extends this foundation with Research and Statistical Methods for Business, Corporate Accounting, Business Economics, and Corporate Law, strengthening analytical, economic, and corporate reporting skills. In Year 2, Semester 1, students progress to more specialized areas such as Financial Accounting, Auditing and Assurance Services, Taxation Law and Practice, along with an elective subject to tailor their learning. Semester 2 focuses on advanced applied learning through Cost and Management Accounting, Financial Management, and a significant Co-Operative Placement in Business, which provides real-world industry experience and professional exposure. Overall, the program is carefully designed to integrate theory with practice, develop technical and analytical accounting skills, and prepare students for professional accreditation and careers in accounting, finance, and business decision-making within both corporate and public sectors.
