COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Environmental Science is a structured three-year degree designed to build strong scientific knowledge and practical skills for managing and protecting natural environments. In the first year, students develop a foundation in core sciences such as biology, chemistry, and environmental studies, along with subjects like biodiversity conservation, sustainable earth systems, and scientific communication. These units help students understand basic ecological principles and environmental processes while also developing scientific writing and analytical skills. The second year focuses on more specialized environmental topics including Australian flora and fauna, population and community ecology, invasive species management, and geographic information systems (GIS). Students also gain practical experience through field-based investigations and a co-operative placement, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in real environmental settings. The third year emphasizes advanced environmental analysis and management, including environmental assessment, wildlife and ecosystem conservation, and climate-related environmental issues. Additional co-operative placements provide further industry exposure and professional experience in science-based organizations. Elective subjects allow students to explore specific areas of interest within environmental science. Overall, the program combines scientific theory, fieldwork, and real-world industry experience to prepare graduates for careers in environmental management, conservation, sustainability, and natural resource protection, equipping them to address global environmental challenges through evidence-based solutions and practical ecological expertise.
