COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Occupational Therapy is a structured four-year program designed to develop skilled healthcare professionals who support individuals in improving their daily functioning and quality of life. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in health sciences and occupational therapy concepts through subjects such as anatomy and physiology, communication skills, allied health practice, human development, and introduction to occupation-based therapy. The second year focuses on deeper clinical understanding, including medical conditions relevant to therapy, research skills, physical and cognitive determinants of occupation, psycho-emotional factors, and healthcare in rural and remote settings. Students also study how environmental and social contexts influence participation in daily life. In the third year, the program emphasizes practical application through occupation-based intervention design, professional practice preparation, and extensive rural and urban clinical placements, allowing students to gain real-world experience in healthcare settings. The fourth year focuses on advanced clinical practice, reflective learning, and professional development, with long-term placements in rural or urban environments. Students also complete an honours project throughout advanced study, contributing to research and evidence-based practice in occupational therapy.
