COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Information Engineering) (Honours) curriculum is designed to provide students with strong theoretical knowledge, technical expertise, and practical industry experience in electrical and information engineering. In the first year, students develop foundational engineering skills through subjects such as computational skills, engineering physics, engineering design, and applied mathematics, while also building professional identity and problem-solving abilities. The second year introduces specialized topics including digital logic, electronic systems, renewable energy principles, power system analysis, communication engineering, electrical machines, and advanced mathematics, helping students understand modern electrical systems and energy technologies. In the third year, the program focuses on advanced engineering applications such as power electronics, industrial automation, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Students also complete co-operative industry placements, gaining real-world engineering experience through practical work in professional environments. The final year emphasizes advanced electrical engineering concepts including control systems, microgrids, energy storage systems, electrical demand forecasting, power transmission, distribution, and protection systems. Students also complete major engineering design and capstone projects that allow them to apply technical and analytical skills to real engineering challenges. Overall, the course combines engineering theory, renewable energy systems, automation, communication technologies, and industry-based learning to prepare graduates for careers in electrical engineering, renewable energy, power systems, automation, and advanced technology industries.
