Federation University

Federation University Australia carries a genuinely historic pedigree, tracing its origins to the School of Mines Ballarat, founded in 1870 and now recognised as the fourth oldest tertiary institution in the country. Students researching the Federation University acceptance rate and admission requirements will find a dual-sector institution offering both higher education and TAFE training, a combination that broadens access considerably compared to single-sector universities. Federation University tuition fees and course offerings span healthcare, education, engineering, computational science, and the arts, delivered across campuses in Ballarat, Berwick, Horsham, and Churchill. The university adopted its current name in 2014 following extensive community consultation, reflecting its expanded multi-campus reach across Victoria. For students prioritising strong regional and industry ties alongside genuine historical depth, Federation University's ranking among Australia's oldest institutions adds real credibility to its modern offerings.
