COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering – Applied Research (Industrial Automation) at EIT is a two-year postgraduate program structured into 48 credit points, designed to build advanced expertise in automation systems and industrial control technologies. The program consists of 18 credit points of coursework (6 units) and a 30-credit-point research component, which accounts for around 60% of the total workload. In the first year, students study core subjects such as industrial automation introduction, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), industrial process control systems, engineering practice, research methods, and technology evaluation, along with elective units. They also begin their research journey by preparing a master’s research proposal. The second year is fully dedicated to applied research, where students carry out research implementation and complete a final thesis at AQF Level 9, demonstrating an original and significant contribution to engineering knowledge. This research is guided by academic supervision and focuses on emerging technologies and real industrial applications. Additionally, students must complete professional practice workshops and 240 hours of work-integrated learning through internships, industry projects, or site visits, which provide real-world exposure to engineering environments. This combination of coursework, research, and practical experience prepares graduates for advanced roles in industrial automation by developing strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills along with the ability to innovate and lead in modern industrial engineering environments.
