COURSE CURRICULUM

The electrical engineering degree is a comprehensive three-year full-time program designed to equip students with both foundational knowledge and specialized skills. The curriculum is structured around a combination of common core units, specialized stream units, industrial work experience, and a significant final year project. Each academic year is divided into two semesters, with students typically taking around five units in the first semester and four in the second, allowing for focused and balanced learning throughout the year. The program begins with foundational subjects in the first year such as engineering mathematics, electrical circuit theory, physics, materials, CAD, programming, electronics design, and rotating electrical machines. These units establish essential theoretical and practical knowledge that students will build upon. In the second year, the focus shifts to more advanced topics like industrial instrumentation and control, analysis of control systems, electricity supply chains, power electronics, communications, signal processing, and engineering management, providing deeper technical expertise and exposure to industry-relevant concepts. The third year centers on specialized electives, renewable energy systems, power system protection, and big data analytics within electricity grids. Students also engage in a major capstone project, which integrates their learning and requires them to apply their skills to real-world engineering challenges. Additional mandatory hands-on workshops and industrial experience units provide practical exposure to industry practices and tools, preparing students for professional environments. Elective options allow students to tailor their studies to specific interests, including electrical utilization, safety, power quality, machine dynamics, industrial robotics, cybersecurity, and communication protocols.
