COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Professional Accounting consists of 16 credit points, including a compulsory zero-credit-point Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin unit completed in the first study period, 12 credit points of core units, and 4 credit points of open elective units. The course structure is designed to build accounting knowledge progressively through foundational, intermediate, and advanced study areas. Foundational units introduce essential concepts such as Accounting, Principles of Finance, Economics for Managers, and Business Law, establishing a strong base in financial and business principles. Intermediate units develop deeper expertise through subjects including Accounting for Management, Principles of Income Tax Law, Analytical Methods, and Financial Accounting. Advanced units focus on professional-level skills in Corporate Auditing, Accounting Systems and Analytics, Advanced Accounting Principles and Practice, and Professional Research and Analysis as a capstone unit. Students also have the flexibility to select open electives to broaden their knowledge and tailor their studies according to career interests. Through this comprehensive structure, the course develops technical accounting expertise, analytical capabilities, problem-solving skills, and practical understanding of modern accounting practices, preparing graduates for professional roles in accounting, finance, auditing, and business advisory environments.
