COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Information Technology Management (Professional) consists of 16 credit points, including a compulsory zero-credit-point Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin unit completed in the first study period. The course structure is divided into four key areas: Fundamental Information Technology Management Studies, Mastery Information Technology Management Studies, Course Electives and Professional Studies. Students complete 7 credit points of core units, 5 credit points of course elective units and 4 credit points of professional studies units. The fundamental and mastery components develop advanced knowledge of IT management, systems, security, analytics and technology service practices. Core units include Computer Networks and Security, Analytics for Security and Privacy, and Services Management, providing students with essential skills to manage modern IT environments and support organisational technology needs. The course electives allow students to customise their learning by exploring specialised areas within information technology and management, while the professional studies component focuses on applying knowledge through practical, industry-relevant experiences. This comprehensive structure helps students develop technical expertise, strategic decision-making abilities, leadership skills and professional capabilities required for managing IT projects, services and teams. Graduates are prepared for careers in IT management, technology consulting, cybersecurity management, enterprise systems and digital transformation leadership roles.
