COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Information Technology Management consists of 16 credit points, including a compulsory zero-credit-point Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin unit. The course is structured into four major areas: Foundation Information Technology Studies, Fundamental Information Technology Management Studies, Mastery Information Technology Management Studies, and Information Technology Management Capstone Studies. Students complete 4 credit points of foundation IT units, 4 credit points of fundamental IT management units, and 8 credit points of advanced mastery and capstone units. The foundation component develops essential technical knowledge through units such as Object-Oriented Development, Database Fundamentals, Software Requirements Analysis and Modelling, and Web Technologies and Development. The course progressively builds advanced skills in managing IT systems, technology services, enterprise solutions and digital transformation strategies. Students also complete elective units that allow them to expand their knowledge in specialised IT or management areas aligned with their career goals. The capstone component provides opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge and practical skills to real-world IT management challenges. Through this comprehensive structure, graduates develop technical expertise, strategic thinking, leadership abilities and professional skills required for roles in IT management, technology consulting, enterprise systems management and digital transformation leadership.
