COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Health Management provides a flexible study structure requiring students to complete 12 or 16 credit points, depending on their entry pathway, previous qualifications, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) based on professional experience. The full 16-credit-point program begins with the compulsory zero-credit unit, DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin, completed during the first study period. Students complete 10 credit points of core units that develop essential knowledge and skills required for effective healthcare leadership and management, along with one specialisation consisting of 6 credit points to support individual career goals. Core units cover a broad range of contemporary health management areas, including Fundamentals of Digital Health, Health Law and Ethics, Principles and Practice of Public Health, Health Economics, Economic Evaluation, Research Literacy, Resource Allocation and Priority Setting, Accounts, Accountability and Governance, Emerging Issues in International Operations, and Human Resource Management. Through these units, students gain expertise in healthcare systems, ethical and legal frameworks, financial decision-making, research evaluation, workforce management, and strategic planning. The specialisation component allows students to further develop expertise in areas aligned with their professional interests. This structure combines healthcare knowledge, business management skills, and practical leadership capabilities to prepare graduates for senior roles in hospitals, government organisations, healthcare services, and community health sectors.
