COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Finance provides a flexible study structure requiring students to complete 8, 12, or 16 credit points, depending on their entry pathway, previous qualifications, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) based on professional experience. The full 16-credit-point program begins with the compulsory zero-credit unit, DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin, completed during the first study period. The course consists of 11 credit points of core units, 1 credit point of course elective units, and 4 credit points of open elective units, allowing students to develop both specialised finance expertise and broader business capabilities. Core studies cover key areas of modern finance, including Financial Markets and Digital Innovations, Principles of Finance, Financial Data Analytics, Environmental Sustainability for Business, Financial Institutions and Investment Banking, Applied Corporate Finance, Investments and Portfolio Management, FinTech Foundations and Cryptocurrencies, Derivatives and Financial Risk Management, International Finance, and Finance in Practice as a capstone unit. Through these units, students develop analytical skills, financial decision-making abilities, and practical knowledge of investment, corporate finance, risk management, digital finance technologies, and global financial markets. The elective components provide opportunities to explore additional disciplines and tailor learning according to career goals. This structure combines theoretical foundations, practical application, and industry-relevant skills to prepare graduates for professional roles in finance, investment, banking, and financial management.
