COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering Management (Professional) provides a flexible study structure requiring students to complete 8, 12, or 16 credit points, depending on their entry pathway, previous qualifications, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) based on professional experience. The full 16-credit-point program begins with three compulsory zero-credit units: DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin, STP710 Career Tools for Employability, and SEE700 Safety Induction Program, which establish academic standards, career readiness, and workplace safety knowledge. The course consists of seven credit points of core and professional learning units, four credit points of pathway units, and five credit points of course elective units. Core studies develop essential engineering management capabilities through units such as Research Methodology, Engineering Project Management, Engineering Sustainability, Project Planning, and Project Implementation and Evaluation. These units strengthen students’ abilities in research, project delivery, sustainability practices, and managing complex engineering projects. Students also complete one credit point of professional learning through either Professional Practice or Continuing Professional Development, enhancing workplace skills and ongoing career growth. The pathway units allow students to build focused expertise aligned with their engineering interests, while course electives provide additional opportunities for specialised learning. This structure integrates engineering knowledge, management skills, professional development, and practical project experience to prepare graduates for leadership roles in the engineering industry.
