COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Construction Management (Professional) provides a comprehensive study structure designed to develop advanced expertise in construction management, requiring students to complete 8, 12, or 16 credit points depending on their entry pathway. The full 16-credit-point program begins with three compulsory zero-credit units: DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin, SRA710 Safety Induction Program, and STP710 Career Tools for Employability, which establish academic, safety, and professional foundations. Students complete 14 credit points of core units covering key areas of construction management, including strategic construction procurement, construction measurement and estimating, building information modelling, building systems and environment, cost planning, building project evaluation, project risk management, construction management practice, construction research, construction company management, and integrated project management through a capstone experience. The course also includes a construction research project, enabling students to investigate contemporary challenges and develop advanced research capabilities. In addition, students complete two credit points through either level 7 open elective units or Deakin stackable short courses, providing opportunities to expand their skills and customise their learning. Combining theoretical knowledge, practical application, research, and industry-focused learning, the program prepares graduates for leadership roles in construction management, project management, quantity surveying, consulting, and the broader built environment sector.
