COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Artificial Intelligence for Design and Creative Practice offers flexible study pathways requiring students to complete either 8 or 16 credit points, depending on their entry qualifications and any Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) granted for previous academic study or relevant professional experience. Students enrolled in the full 16-credit-point program begin with the compulsory zero-credit unit, DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin, completed during their first trimester to develop essential academic and ethical practices. The curriculum comprises 10 credit points of core units that provide advanced knowledge in design systems, digital design, design strategies, digital art and photography, the impact of generative AI on design and creative processes, applying GenAI in creative practice, creative use of GenAI in industry, GenAI in creative research, online communities, and social media content creation. Students also complete four credit points of research capstone units, enabling them to undertake an independent research project that explores the application and impact of artificial intelligence within their chosen creative discipline. In addition, two credit points of elective units provide opportunities to tailor the program to individual interests and career aspirations. This well-rounded course structure combines creative design, AI technologies, research, and industry-focused learning, preparing graduates for innovative careers at the intersection of artificial intelligence, design, and digital creativity.
