COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Applied Artificial Intelligence (Professional) offers a flexible study structure requiring students to complete 8, 12, or 16 credit points, depending on their entry qualifications and any Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) granted for previous academic studies or relevant professional experience. Students undertaking the full 16-credit-point program begin with the compulsory zero-credit unit, DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin, completed during their first study period to develop essential academic and ethical practices. The curriculum is organised into four progressive components. Part A consists of four core units in Fundamental Applied Artificial Intelligence studies, introducing essential concepts in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, programming, and intelligent systems. Part B includes four core units in Mastery Applied Artificial Intelligence studies, enabling students to develop advanced technical expertise and solve complex AI challenges. Part C provides flexibility through four credit points that can be completed as either a specialisation or level 7 SIT or MIS-coded elective units, allowing students to tailor their studies to specific interests or career goals. Part D comprises four credit points of professional studies, where students undertake industry-based learning or applied professional experiences, strengthening practical skills, research capabilities, and workplace readiness for careers in artificial intelligence and advanced technology.
