COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Applied Artificial Intelligence is designed to provide flexible study pathways, requiring students to complete 8, 12, or 16 credit points depending on their entry qualification and any Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) granted for previous academic studies or professional experience. Students enrolled in the full 16-credit-point program begin with the compulsory zero-credit unit, DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin, completed during their first study period to develop essential academic and ethical practices. The curriculum is structured into four progressive stages that build knowledge and practical expertise. Part A focuses on Foundation Information Technology studies and includes four core units that establish essential computing, programming, and technical skills. Part B comprises four core units in Fundamental Artificial Intelligence studies, introducing key AI concepts, machine learning, data analysis, and intelligent systems. Part C includes four core units in Mastery Applied Artificial Intelligence studies, enabling students to apply advanced AI techniques to solve complex real-world problems. Finally, Part D consists of three core capstone units, where students undertake industry-focused projects demonstrating their technical and professional capabilities, along with one level 7 SIT or MIS-coded elective unit, allowing them to specialise in an area aligned with their career goals and interests.
