COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Laws requires students to complete 40 credit points, combining scientific study with comprehensive legal education. The course includes the compulsory Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin module and the Laboratory and Fieldwork Safety Induction Program, along with employability preparation through Career Tools for Employability. The Bachelor of Science component consists of 16 credit points, including 8 credit points of core science units, one science major comprising 6 credit points, and 2 credit points of open elective units. This structure allows students to develop scientific knowledge while specialising in an area aligned with their interests and career goals. The Bachelor of Laws component contributes 24 credit points, including 18 credit points of core legal units, 1 credit point of Work Integrated Learning or practical legal experience, and 5 credit points of law electives. Throughout the course, students must satisfy the requirements of both the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Laws programs. This combined structure develops analytical thinking, research skills, scientific understanding and legal expertise, preparing graduates for careers in areas where science and law overlap, including environmental regulation, biotechnology, policy development, intellectual property, government and legal practice.
