COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Public Health and Health Promotion/Bachelor of Commerce requires students to complete 32 credit points, combining specialised health studies with comprehensive business education. The course includes the compulsory Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin module, 16 credit points from Public Health and Health Promotion, and 16 credit points from Commerce. The public health component develops knowledge in areas such as health systems, disease prevention, health communication, epidemiology, population health, policy, program planning and evaluation, while the commerce component builds skills in accounting, finance, economics, law, analytics, management and marketing, along with a chosen commerce major. In the first year, students study foundations of health, disease prevention, business accounting, finance, economics and commercial law. The second year focuses on health communication, environmental health, social perspectives, professional practice, business analytics and marketing fundamentals. In the third year, students advance their knowledge through epidemiology, biostatistics, research, program management and commerce major units. The final year includes health policy, implementation and evaluation, commerce major studies and a health practicum providing valuable industry experience. This structure prepares graduates with interdisciplinary skills for careers in public health, health promotion, business management, healthcare marketing, policy development and community-focused roles.
