COURSE CURRICULUM

Bachelor of Marketing (Psychology), students must successfully complete 24 credit points combining psychological science, marketing knowledge and professional practice. The course begins with the compulsory zero-credit-point unit, DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin, completed during the first study period. Students undertake 23 credit points of core units covering both psychology and marketing disciplines. Psychology studies include foundations of psychological science and practice, human behaviour, individual and social development, research methods, developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, social psychology, personality psychology, psychopathology, biological psychology and advanced social psychology, providing a strong understanding of human thinking, behaviour and decision-making. Marketing and business units develop expertise in areas such as business analytics, marketing fundamentals, services marketing, consumer behaviour, brand management, digital marketing communications, marketing insights, business ethics, professional development and strategic marketing through a capstone experience. Students also complete one credit point of Work Integrated Learning through options including business for social impact, consultancy experience, entrepreneurship experience, internships or international consultancy experiences. This structure allows students to apply psychological insights to marketing challenges, develop industry-relevant skills and gain practical experience. Graduates are prepared for careers in marketing, consumer research, brand strategy, advertising, communications and related fields requiring an understanding of consumer behaviour and market dynamics.
