COURSE CURRICULUM

To complete Deakin University’s Bachelor of International Studies/Bachelor of Commerce, students must successfully complete 32 credit points that integrate global studies with business education. The course begins with the compulsory zero-credit-point unit, DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin, which must be completed during the first study period. Students complete 16 credit points from the Bachelor of International Studies, including six credit points of core units that develop knowledge of global issues, international systems and intercultural perspectives. They also undertake one international studies major worth eight credit points and complete a minimum of two credit points of approved international experience, providing practical exposure to global environments through activities such as overseas study or internships. The remaining 16 credit points are completed within the Bachelor of Commerce, consisting of eight credit points of core units that establish essential business knowledge and one commerce major worth eight credit points, allowing students to specialise in areas such as accounting, finance, management or marketing. Students must complete a minimum of four credit points of level 3 commerce-coded units, no more than 12 credit points at level 1, and at least 10 credit points at level 3 across the course. All academic requirements for both degrees must be satisfied, ensuring graduates develop advanced business expertise, global awareness and practical skills for international careers.
