COURSE CURRICULUM

Deakin University’s Bachelor of International Studies (Global Scholar), students must successfully complete 24 credit points designed to develop global knowledge, intercultural skills and professional experience. The course begins with the compulsory zero-credit-point unit, DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin, which must be completed during the first study period. Students undertake six credit points of core units that build foundational understanding of international issues, global systems, cultural diversity and analytical approaches to contemporary challenges. They also complete one major worth eight credit points and one minor worth four credit points, allowing them to specialise in areas aligned with their academic interests and career aspirations. A minimum of four credit points of approved international experience is required, which can be achieved through AIS331 International Internship B or AIS330 International Internship A combined with additional approved international experience activities. To ensure academic progression, students may complete a maximum of 10 credit points at level 1, must complete at least 14 credit points at levels 2 and 3, and must undertake a minimum of six credit points at level 3. Students can take a maximum of eight credit points outside the Faculty of Arts and Education while completing the Global Citizenship Program. This structure provides a balance of academic knowledge, specialised study and practical international engagement, preparing graduates for global careers.
