COURSE CURRICULUM

To complete Deakin University’s Bachelor of Human Resource Management (Psychology), students must successfully complete 24 credit points, combining core studies in psychology, human resource management and professional practice. The course begins with the compulsory zero-credit-point unit, DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin, which is completed during the first study period. Students undertake 23 credit points of core units that develop knowledge across psychological science and human resource management. Psychology studies include foundations of psychological science and practice, human behaviour, individual and social development, research methods, developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, social psychology, personality psychology, psychopathology and biological psychology, providing a strong understanding of human thoughts, behaviours and workplace interactions. Human resource management studies cover areas such as management, organisational behaviour, conflict resolution, human resource development, HR practices, technology, change management, employment relations and strategic HR management, including a capstone unit that integrates professional knowledge. Students also complete one credit point of Work Integrated Learning through options such as internships, consultancy experiences, entrepreneurship experiences, international consultancy or business for social impact projects. This structure enables students to apply psychological insights to workplace challenges, develop practical HR capabilities and graduate with the analytical, communication and professional skills required for careers in human resources, organisational development, recruitment, employee relations and workplace consulting.
