COURSE CURRICULUM

To complete Deakin University’s Bachelor of Health Sciences/Bachelor of Arts, students must successfully complete 32 credit points that provide an equal balance between health science and arts-based learning. The course begins with the compulsory zero-credit-point unit, DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin, which must be completed during the first study period to establish essential academic practices. Students complete 16 credit points from the Bachelor of Health Sciences, including six credit points of core units that develop foundational knowledge in health, wellbeing and professional practice. They also complete one health major worth six credit points and one health minor worth four credit points, allowing students to specialise in areas aligned with their interests and career goals. The remaining 16 credit points are undertaken within the Bachelor of Arts, including an arts major consisting of eight credit points. The remaining arts credit points can be used to complete a minor, undertake Employability units, select electives from the Bachelor of Arts, or combine these options to broaden interdisciplinary knowledge. Students must complete a minimum of four credit points of Arts-coded level 3 units to demonstrate advanced learning and critical analysis skills. To graduate, students must satisfy all course requirements for both the Bachelor of Health Sciences and Bachelor of Arts, developing a versatile skill set for careers across health, community services, policy, research, communication and social development fields.
