COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Cyber Security (Honours) at Deakin University is a 32-credit-point program designed to develop advanced technical knowledge and practical expertise in cyber security, preparing students for professional and research-focused careers. The course begins with compulsory units including Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin and Career Tools for Employability, providing a strong foundation in academic standards and career development. Students complete 13 credit points of core units covering essential areas of cyber security, including information security, digital forensics, secure systems, ethical hacking, and cyber risk management. The program also includes 3 credit points of cyber security capstone units, where students apply their technical knowledge to solve real-world industry challenges through practical projects. In addition, students undertake 4 credit points of cyber security research training capstone units, developing advanced research, analytical, and problem-solving skills through an honours-level research project. The remaining 12 credit points offer flexibility, allowing students to tailor their studies through three minors, two minors combined with open elective units, or one minor with additional open electives, depending on their interests and career goals. The course requires a maximum of 10 credit points at level 1 and a minimum of 10 credit points at level 3 or above, ensuring students graduate with advanced knowledge, specialised expertise, and strong professional capabilities in cyber security.
