COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Criminology/Bachelor of Psychological Science at Deakin University is a 32-credit-point double degree that combines the study of crime, justice, and human behaviour to prepare students for careers across criminal justice, psychology, community services, and related fields. The course includes 16 credit points from the Bachelor of Criminology and 16 credit points from the Bachelor of Psychological Science, with students required to satisfy the academic requirements of both programs. The Criminology component consists of 6 credit points of core units that develop foundational knowledge of crime, justice systems, and criminological theory, together with 6 credit points of criminology elective units that allow students to explore specialised topics. Students also complete 4 credit points of Arts course electives and must undertake a minimum of 6 credit points of Arts-coded units at level 3 to strengthen advanced analytical and critical thinking skills. The Psychological Science component comprises 16 credit points of core units, including 4 credit points of Foundations of Psychology, 8 credit points of Psychology Essentials, and 4 credit points of Psychology in Practice, providing comprehensive knowledge of psychological theory, research, and professional application.
