COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Criminology/Bachelor of Cyber Security at Deakin University is a 32-credit-point double degree that combines expertise in criminal behaviour, justice systems, and digital security to prepare students for careers addressing modern cybercrime challenges. The course includes 16 credit points from the Bachelor of Criminology and 16 credit points from the Bachelor of Cyber Security, with students required to meet the academic requirements of both programs. The Criminology component consists of 6 credit points of core units that develop knowledge of crime, justice, and criminological concepts, along with 6 credit points of criminology course elective units that allow students to explore specialised topics. Students also complete 4 credit points of Arts course electives, with a minimum of 6 credit points of Arts-coded units required at level 3 to support advanced critical analysis and understanding. The Cyber Security component begins with compulsory Safety Induction and Career Tools for Employability units, followed by 13 credit points of core units covering essential technical and security concepts. Students also complete 3 credit points of Cyber Security capstone units, applying their knowledge to practical industry-focused projects. The course maintains academic progression standards, including a maximum of 12 credit points at level 1 and a minimum of 10 credit points at level 3, ensuring graduates develop advanced technical, analytical, and professional skills for careers in cyber security, digital investigations, and criminal justice.
