COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Creative Arts at Deakin University is a 24-credit-point program designed to develop students’ creative abilities while building professional skills for careers in the arts and creative industries. The course begins with the compulsory Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin unit, followed by thematic core units that provide a foundation for creative practice and industry understanding. Students also complete an Employability sequence consisting of 3 credit points, helping them develop workplace skills, career readiness, and professional capabilities. The program offers flexibility through different study pathways, allowing students to complete either two majors, with at least one selected from the Creative Arts majors, or one Creative Arts major combined with a minor. Students can further customise their degree through additional minors, open elective units, or a combination of these options, enabling them to explore diverse creative interests and complementary disciplines. The course structure supports both specialised creative development and broader learning, with a maximum of 10 credit points permitted at level 1 and a minimum of 6 credit points required at level 3 to ensure advanced study. Through this flexible approach, students develop creative expertise, critical thinking, communication skills, and professional knowledge required to succeed in contemporary arts, media, and creative industries.
