COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) at Deakin University is a 32-credit-point program designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills required for professional careers in construction management, quantity surveying, and related industries. The course begins with compulsory foundation units including Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin, the Safety Induction Program, and Career Tools for Employability, which support students’ academic success, workplace awareness, and professional development. Students complete 29 credit points of core units that cover essential areas of construction management, including building technology, project management, construction practices, estimating, digital construction, sustainability, and industry-focused approaches. These core studies develop the technical, analytical, and managerial capabilities required to successfully plan, coordinate, and deliver construction projects. In addition, students complete 3 credit points of open elective units, allowing them to broaden their knowledge and explore complementary areas, with at least one elective required to be at level 2 or above. The course maintains academic progression requirements, with a maximum of 10 credit points permitted at level 1 and a minimum of 10 credit points required at level 3 or above to ensure advanced learning. Through this structured combination of theoretical study, practical skills, and professional preparation, graduates are equipped to meet the evolving demands of the construction industry.
