COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) at Deakin University is a 32-credit-point program designed to provide students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in computer science, software development, and emerging technologies. The course begins with compulsory units including Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin and Career Tools for Employability, followed by 13 credit points of core units that establish essential foundations in computing concepts and technical skills. Students complete 3 credit points of computer science capstone units, allowing them to apply their knowledge to practical projects, along with 4 credit points of research training capstone units that develop advanced research and analytical capabilities. The remaining 12 credit points provide flexibility for students to customise their studies through majors, minors, and elective units. Students may choose from options including one major with electives, two majors, a major combined with a minor and electives, multiple minors, or a combination of minor and open elective units. This flexible structure allows students to specialise in areas aligned with their career interests while developing broad computing expertise. The course requires a maximum of 10 credit points at level 1 and a minimum of 10 credit points at level 3 or above, ensuring students gain both foundational knowledge and advanced technical skills for professional and research-focused careers.
