COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws at Deakin University is a 40-credit-point combined degree that integrates legal education with the study of arts, providing students with a broad and interdisciplinary learning experience. The course includes 16 credit points from the Bachelor of Arts and 24 credit points from the Bachelor of Laws, allowing students to develop expertise across both disciplines. The Arts component requires students to complete one major consisting of 8 credit points, along with a minimum of 4 credit points of Faculty of Arts units at level 3 to build advanced knowledge and critical understanding. Remaining Arts credit points can be used for the Employability sequence, elective units, or a minor sequence, giving students flexibility to personalise their studies. The Laws component consists of 18 credit points of core law units, covering essential legal principles and practices, along with 1 credit point of Work Integrated Learning or practical course elective experience and 5 credit points of law course electives. Students must also complete the compulsory Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin unit during their first study period. By satisfying the requirements of both the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws, students graduate with strong legal knowledge, research capabilities, communication skills, and broader social perspectives, preparing them for diverse professional pathways in legal and related fields.
