COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts at Deakin University is a flexible 24-credit-point program designed to allow students to customise their studies according to their interests, career goals, and personal aspirations. The course begins with the compulsory Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin unit, along with an employability sequence that helps students develop essential professional skills and career readiness. Students can structure their degree by completing either two Arts majors, each consisting of eight credit points, or one Arts major combined with an Arts minor of four credit points. The remaining credit points can be used to undertake additional majors, minors, open elective units, or a combination of these options, providing students with the flexibility to explore multiple disciplines. The course encourages broad learning while maintaining academic depth, with students able to select subjects across arts, humanities, and social sciences. Students can complete a maximum of 10 credit points at first-year level and must undertake at least 6 credit points at third-year level to develop advanced knowledge and critical understanding. Up to 8 credit points may also be selected from outside the Faculty of Arts and Education, allowing students to broaden their skills and gain interdisciplinary knowledge. This flexible structure supports students in building a personalised degree that aligns with their future career pathways.
