COURSE CURRICULUM

The course structure of the Petroleum Engineering program is designed to provide students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in exploration, reservoir management, drilling, production, and field development. Over two years, the program covers key areas essential for modern petroleum engineering practices. In the first year, students develop a strong foundation through subjects such as Formation Evaluation, Reservoir Engineering, and Phase Behaviour and Flow Assurance, gaining an understanding of subsurface characterization, fluid behavior, and reservoir performance. The second semester expands this knowledge through Reservoir Engineering 2, Drilling Engineering Fundamentals, and Production Technology, focusing on efficient resource extraction and operational techniques. In the second year, students advance their expertise through Advanced Drilling Practices and Well Stimulation, Remedial, and Intervention Operations, preparing them to manage complex drilling and production challenges. The final semester includes Field Development Planning, where students integrate engineering concepts to design effective petroleum development strategies. Students also select an elective subject in areas such as Process Plant Engineering, Engineering Economics, Management and Sustainability, or Principles of Corrosion to broaden their professional knowledge. Overall, the curriculum combines technical theory, practical applications, and industry-focused learning to prepare graduates for successful careers in petroleum engineering, energy resources, and related engineering fields.
