COURSE CURRICULUM

The course structure of the Mining Engineering program is designed to provide students with advanced technical knowledge and practical skills across key areas of modern mining operations. Over two years, the program covers essential disciplines including geomechanics, mining methods, resource estimation, mine systems, excavation technologies, ventilation, geotechnical engineering, mine planning, and sustainable mining practices. In the first year, students develop a strong foundation through subjects such as Applied Geomechanics for Mining, Mining Methods and Processes, and Mine Systems Engineering. They also study Rock Excavation Technology and Underground Mine Ventilation while choosing specialized subjects in areas such as Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology or Advanced Resource Modelling and Estimation. The second year focuses on advanced applications, including Applied Geotechnical Engineering, Responsible Mining, Mineral Processing, and Advanced Mine Planning. Students further enhance their expertise through elective options such as Mine Design and Optimisation, Numerical Modelling Applications in Geomechanics, and Rock and Soil Slope Engineering. The curriculum integrates theoretical learning with practical problem-solving approaches, preparing students to address complex challenges in mine design, operation, safety, and sustainability.
