COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Professional Engineering in Emerging Power Systems Engineering is a two-year postgraduate program designed to develop advanced expertise in renewable energy, power systems, electrical technologies, and smart grid solutions. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in modern power engineering through units such as Power Electronics, Industrial Automated Systems, and Renewable Energy Principles. These subjects provide knowledge of energy conversion, automation technologies, sustainable energy generation, and the role of advanced systems in future electricity networks. Students further develop their technical capabilities through Engineering Electromagnetics, Power System Analysis, and Electrical Machines Drives and Control, gaining skills in electrical system modelling, power network operation, and control technologies. In the second year, students specialise in emerging energy systems through units including Renewable Power Generation Systems, Electrical Assets Protection and Condition Monitoring, Electric Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution, and Smart Grid Control. These subjects focus on renewable energy integration, power infrastructure reliability, energy distribution networks, and intelligent grid management. The program combines theoretical knowledge, engineering analysis, and practical applications to prepare graduates for careers in renewable energy, power system engineering, electrical infrastructure, and smart energy technologies. Graduates develop the skills required to design, manage, and improve sustainable power systems while contributing to the global transition towards cleaner and more efficient energy solutions.
